Firsthand
Their story, in their words.
Firsthand records interviews you lead yourself and turns them into something finished: a recording divided into chapters, one for each question you asked, with a transcript and files ready to share. Sit down with a grandparent, a veteran, a podcast guest or a job candidate, and come away with more than a long audio file.
Coming soon for iPhone and iPadAsk, and it becomes a chapter
Tap each question as you begin asking it. Later, jump straight to the story about the farm, the first job or the move across the world.
Templates for every kind of interview
Personal History, A Veteran's Story, An Immigration Story, Job Interview, Podcast Guest and more, or write your own.
Two mics, or just your iPhone
Record you and your guest on separate tracks with a pair of wireless lapel mics, or simply use the iPhone's microphone.
A finished recording
A transcript, gentle clean-up of pauses and filler words, and exports as audio with chapters, a video slideshow, or a PDF.
Over as many sessions as it takes
Older guests need rest. Continue an interview another day, with a recap of where you left off.
Private by design
Everything stays on your device. No account, no ads, no tracking. Transcription runs on your iPhone.
